It is your first day of school, but you are not nervous. Sure, your parents gave you a name pronounced ‘Gary’ but spelled ‘Josh,’ but that won’t stop you. You might not know anybody in this new school, and you might have heard that the classes here are extremely hard, but that doesn’t phase you. Oh wait-Yes it does! You are very nervous! You’ve had mixed reactions to your name in the past, so you have no idea how this might go. It all depends on how you play it.
Just as that thought crosses your mind, the bell rings. You walk down the hallway, pass the kid hyperventilating in the hall, the guy getting shoved in his locker, and all the other cliché school scenes until you make it to class. The bell rings again as you walk in and attendance is taken. Here it is, the moment of truth (or lies whichever you prefer).
The teacher reads your name off the attendance list. “Is there a Josh here?”
Do you: Correct her (3) or just ignore it and just say you’re here (6)
